Fire Curtain
When Collins Contractors contacted us with their problem, Brooks Security was happy to help.
Collins Contractors had been asked by their clients to renovate the lobby of this prominent building in Guildford High Street. The renovation included removal of the double fire doors between the lobby and the lifts. The building control officer recommended installing a fire curtain to replace the old doors.
The fire curtain works via its own smoke detector located in the lobby. This allows the building to evacuate quickly when the main building fire alarm is triggered, as the fire curtain will only close when its own local smoke detector is triggered. Should the fire curtain close during a fire, it can still be opened from a switch located next to the opening. This switch only works when the fire curtain is in alarm mode and when pressed, it will re-open the curtain. The fire curtain will re-close once it been through its pre-set closing procedure. Should complete power be lost to the fire curtain, it’s simple to escape by lifting the bottom slat. Unlike fire shutters, fire curtains are made from a stainless steel fabric and it’s easy to lift the curtain up to escape under.
The new lobby looks fantastic.
